Middle school science contests like Science Olympiad (division B), National Science Bowl, and the National Science Bee are a launching pad for the best science students.
To help STEM students prepare for the upcoming competition cycle, this summer camp explores sophisticated problems, investigations, and tasks inspired by real science competitions. Students will study important scientific concepts and practice their new problem solving abilities through daily mock contests and games.
Designed for rising 6th to 8th graders, this course's topics include experimental and procedural design, estimation and measurement, optics, circuits, cartography, cryptography, geology, and astronomy.
PREVIOUS COURSE: STEM Camp 5–6: Waves and Sound
This summer camp, designed for rising 6th through 8th graders, offers students the chance to tackle sophisticated problems, investigations, and tasks that are inspired by middle-school science contests. Students develop skills in important topics like experimental & procedural design and estimation & measurement, and then apply these skills to solve challenging problems in optics, circuits, cartography, cryptography, geology, and astronomy. Students will also be given opportunities to exercise their problem-solving acumen in practice individual and team competitions during the camp, which will provide them both scientific skills and test-taking experience that will prepare them for key events in the upcoming school year.
