Class Experience

Each day of Math Beasts Camp 2 consists of a Problem Solving component and a Mathematical Exploration component. The Problem Solving component helps students to master topics that will prepare them for the next school year. Students focus on number sense, addition, subtraction, shapes, place value, comparing, and patterns. Within these topics, they build problem solving techniques that go beyond those in a standard grade 1 classroom.

The Mathematical Exploration component of the course provides students with an active, hands-on, and activity-based learning experience. Each day, students play one or more mathematical games that directly relate to the core math topics of the day. After playing each game, students learn about the mathematics behind the game, as well as how to turn their mathematical knowledge into strategies.
