In STEM Camp 3-4, elementary students will engage in scientific inquiry as they examine, analyze, and model phenomena like a scientist! Students investigate properties of matter and the physical world, qualify and quantify those properties, and then design hands-on experiments to test their hypotheses and demonstrate their methods.
This summer science camp is designed with Beast Academy Science materials. It is intended for students in grades 3–4 who are about to enter or just completed Beast Academy Science 3.
NEXT COURSE: STEM Camp 4-5: Mission to Mars
The first week of STEM Camp 3-4 is guided by new Beast Academy Science Guide materials. Using the five senses and basic experimental tools, students will discover much about the physical world that they never noticed before. Students will interact with materials to learn the fundamental concepts of mass, density, and conservation of matter. They will pair this with new vocabulary and creative modes of visual communication to share and describe their findings.
The second week of camp dives deeper into the properties of water. Through the simple and unique molecule of H20 students will get their first glimpse at the building blocks of matter. They will see how the properties of water make life on earth possible. Finally, students zoom out to discover the role of the moon and the sun on earth’s processes. To finish the week, students again, use their senses and imagination to explore light and sound waves and the diverse modes of communication used by animals and nature.
